Local 372 Donates Musical Instruments to School in the Bronx
Today at 8:30am Local 372 President Santos Crespo Jr. along with union member Monique Adams, School Lunch Helper, donated a drum set, piano and PA speakers to P.S 111 in the Bronx. The donation came as a response to the under funding of extracurricular activities in schools, which has forced many New York City schools to cut music and art programs.
Monique Adams, stated “ I am excited for my school. My kids love their music teacher and they love music. I’m excited for them to have something new around here.”
Local 372 President Santos Crespo Jr. is quoted as saying; “Music has always brought joy to my life and it pains me to know that our schoolchildren do not all have the opportunity to experience that same joy. It was with that in mind that we at the President’s office of Local 372 chose to donate instruments to a school that otherwise would not have access to any. The city has cut back on resources for our children and instead chooses to put money in the hands of the 1%. This is wrong and we at Local 372 will do our part to ensure that our children have all that they need to thrive, whether inside the classroom or out. This is what unionism is about”
